ADHD assessments at our Melton clinic are delivered by Mariam, one of our AHPRA-registered psychologists. We use an intake-first model — a shorter first appointment so we can understand the reason for assessment, explain the pathway, and decide together whether to proceed. We do not prescribe medication and we don't predict assessment outcomes. To book an intake appointment, call (03) 9746 6852 or book online.
Who can be assessed
- Children (with parent involvement)
- Adolescents
- Adults
Inputs vary by age — for children, parent and school input is usually important; for adults, we work directly with you (with optional input from a partner or workplace).
The intake appointment
The intake is shorter and less expensive than the full assessment pathway. It exists so we can:
- Understand why you're seeking assessment and who has raised the concerns
- Explain the full pathway, timeframes, costs and what the report will and won't tell you
- Check whether a full assessment is likely to be useful in your situation
- Decide together whether to proceed
Some people decide not to proceed after intake, and that's a legitimate outcome.
The full assessment
If we agree to proceed, the full pathway typically involves a structured clinical interview, validated questionnaires (often with input from a parent, partner or teacher), and a written report with recommendations. The assessment spans multiple sessions over a number of weeks.
