About 101 Physio Melton
Because several services operate from the same clinic, patients who need more than one type of support can often be coordinated more easily. Where clinically relevant and with consent, a physiotherapist may communicate with a podiatrist, psychologist, GP or specialist involved in the person's care.

Services available at our Melton clinic
Below is what we offer here. Click through to any service page for the detail of how we work, what to expect at the first appointment, and the funding options that may apply. If you are not sure which service is right for you, call reception on (03) 9746 6852 and we will help you decide.
Physiotherapy
The largest part of what we do at Melton. Our physiotherapists assess and manage musculoskeletal complaints (back, neck, shoulder, hip, knee, foot and ankle), sports injuries, work injuries, headache and migraine assessment, post-surgical rehabilitation and chronic-pain management. We work with adults, adolescents and children. Sub-areas include sports physiotherapy, WorkCover physiotherapy, TAC physiotherapy, NDIS physiotherapy and DVA physiotherapy. See our physiotherapy page for what to expect at a Melton physiotherapy appointment.
Podiatry
Podiatry is currently offered at our Melton clinic only. Our podiatrists work with heel pain and plantar fasciitis, ingrown toenails, diabetic foot care, paediatric foot development, sports-related foot and ankle problems, and orthotic prescription where clinically indicated. Patients from Hoppers Crossing or Sunbury are welcome to attend Melton for podiatry, or we can refer you closer to home. More on our podiatry service.
Psychology and assessments
Our psychology team at Melton works with adults, adolescents and children. Two specific service areas:
- ADHD and ASD assessments. Multi-session pathway: intake, structured clinical interview, validated questionnaires, written report with recommendations. We do not prescribe medication and we do not predict assessment outcomes — the assessment is what the assessment shows. Mariam, one of our psychologists, has clinical experience in ADHD and ASD assessments. More on ADHD and ASD assessments.
- Cognitive assessments. Reta visits our Melton clinic specifically to deliver cognitive assessments. Cognitive assessments evaluate areas including memory, attention, processing speed and executive function, and are commonly requested in the context of academic performance, occupational demands, post-injury recovery, or as part of a wider neurodevelopmental work-up. Reta is also based at our Sunbury clinic — see psychology at 101 Physio for more.
Hydrotherapy
Hydrotherapy is coordinated through our Melton team and usually runs at Melton Waves aquatic centre, rather than inside the clinic. It involves warm-water-based exercise supervised by a physiotherapist and may be suitable where land-based exercise is uncomfortable or where water-based movement is clinically appropriate. More on our hydrotherapy program.
Remedial massage and myotherapy
Hands-on treatment for soft-tissue tension, pain and movement restriction. Available at our Melton clinic only. Can be a standalone service or part of a broader physiotherapy plan. Provided by suitably qualified practitioners. More on remedial massage and myotherapy.
Other treatments and therapies
Shockwave therapy (for certain tendon and plantar conditions, after assessment), dry needling (used by some of our physiotherapists as part of a wider plan), and clinical Pilates (small-group or individual exercise sessions supervised by a physiotherapist). Whether any of these is suitable for you depends on your assessment — your clinician will discuss the options.
Conditions our Melton physiotherapists commonly see
A non-exhaustive list of the reasons people book with us at Melton:
- Back pain (acute and chronic) — see back-pain physiotherapy
- Neck pain, including whiplash-style presentations and posture-related discomfort
- Shoulder pain — rotator cuff problems, frozen shoulder, post-surgical rehab — see shoulder-pain physiotherapy
- Knee pain and lower-limb problems — see knee and leg pain
- Hip pain and groin problems — see hip pain physiotherapy
- Foot and ankle pain, plantar fasciitis — see foot and ankle pain
- Headache and migraine assessment, where physiotherapy is appropriate — see headache and migraine physiotherapy
- Sports injuries — sprains, strains, tendinopathies, return-to-sport planning
- Post-operative rehabilitation after orthopaedic surgery — see post-surgical care
- Repetitive strain and overuse injuries common in office, trade and physically demanding work — see repetitive strain
What we work on with you depends on your assessment. Some people see us for a single session; others need a longer plan. Treatment may involve manual therapy, exercise prescription, dry needling where appropriate, education on managing the condition at home, and coordination with your GP or specialist when relevant.
Your first appointment at 101 Physio Melton
Before the appointment. You don't need a referral for physiotherapy or podiatry — both are primary contact professions in Australia and you can book directly. For Medicare-rebated allied health (under a GP Chronic Disease Management plan), Medicare Mental Health Care Plan psychology, WorkCover, TAC, NDIS or DVA cover, you will need the paperwork in place — call reception if you are unsure what applies to you.
What to bring.
- Any referral letter, GP plan or specialist correspondence relevant to your visit
- Imaging — scans, X-rays or reports if you have them (you don't have to chase them; they're a "bring if you have")
- Your Medicare card, private health card, WorkCover/TAC claim number, NDIS plan or DVA card as relevant
- Comfortable clothing you can move in. For physiotherapy, exposing the area being assessed often helps (shorts for knees and lower back; a sleeveless top for shoulders) — your clinician will adjust to what you're comfortable with.
At the appointment. A first physiotherapy session is usually 30–45 minutes. Your clinician will ask about the problem, how it started, what makes it better or worse, your goals, your work and daily activities, and any relevant medical history. They will then examine the area, discuss what they find, and talk you through a plan. You can ask questions at any time — including questions about whether the assessment makes sense to you, what evidence supports a particular treatment, and what alternatives exist.
After the appointment. Reception will help you book any follow-up, claim through HICAPS if you have private health extras cover, and provide receipts you can submit to your fund or workplace where relevant.
Suburbs we serve from our Melton clinic
Our Melton clinic draws patients from across the Shire of Melton and the western edge of metropolitan Melbourne. Beyond Melton itself, our catchment includes Melton West, Melton South, Kurunjang, Cobblebank, Brookfield, Eynesbury, Exford, Harkness, Toolern Vale, Weir Views and Strathtulloh. We also commonly see patients from Caroline Springs, Bacchus Marsh, Rockbank, Plumpton, Deanside, Thornhill Park, Fraser Rise, Bonnie Brook, Hillside and Taylors Hill. If your suburb is not listed, call us — we likely cover you.
Funding and payment options
We work with most common funding pathways. Eligibility for each depends on your individual circumstances and the funding body's rules — we'll confirm at intake and let you know any out-of-pocket gap before treatment begins.
- Private health insurance. HICAPS on-site for on-the-spot claiming. Rebates vary by fund and policy.
- Medicare — Enhanced Primary Care / Chronic Disease Management. Up to 5 Medicare-rebated allied-health sessions per calendar year for patients with a chronic-condition plan from their GP. A gap above the Medicare rebate may apply.
- Medicare — Mental Health Care Plan. For psychology, set rebates apply per session for eligible patients with a GP plan.
- WorkCover. For accepted WorkCover claims, physiotherapy may be funded where it is approved and clinically related to the workplace injury. Reception can help you understand what details we need before your first appointment.
- TAC. For accepted TAC claims, physiotherapy may be funded where it is approved and related to the transport accident. Any out-of-pocket costs depend on the claim setup and approvals.
- NDIS. NDIS participants may be able to access physiotherapy or related supports where these are included in their plan. Please contact reception to confirm whether we can support your plan type and goals.
- DVA. Gold and White cardholders may be eligible — bring your card and any referral.
- Private payment. Accepted for any service. Contact reception for the current fee schedule.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a referral to book at 101 Physio Melton?
No, not for physiotherapy or podiatry — both are primary contact professions, so you can book directly. A referral is required for some funded pathways: Medicare Enhanced Primary Care, WorkCover, TAC, DVA, and (for Medicare-rebated psychology) a Mental Health Care Plan from your GP.
How long is a first physiotherapy appointment at Melton?
Most first physiotherapy and podiatry appointments are 30–45 minutes — long enough for a proper assessment and to discuss a plan. Psychology first sessions are typically 50–60 minutes. ADHD and ASD assessments span multiple sessions; the full pathway is explained at intake.
Is parking available at the Melton clinic?
Yes — on-site parking directly outside the clinic, with accessible bays nearest the entrance.
Can I claim on the spot with my health fund?
Yes — HICAPS is on-site at Melton. Most major Australian health funds are supported, so you only pay the gap.
What about children?
Our Melton clinic sees children for physiotherapy, podiatry, and psychology assessments where appropriate. Parents or guardians are welcome in the appointment with younger children; we'll work out what suits the child's age and situation at intake.
I'm not sure which service I need — can you help?
Reception can help guide you toward the most appropriate first appointment. If clinical input is needed before booking, we will let you know the next step.
For non-urgent enquiries, contact us by email or through the website form. For urgent or severe symptoms, please contact your GP, after-hours doctor, or 000 — physiotherapy is not an emergency service.
